Dear Fellow Elks:
I want to thank all of those that have helped prepare the food bags for the local children. These food bags give our community’s children enough food for several days and contribute to the wellbeing of the families in need in our area.
I am very proud that our lodge is part of such a great work that directly affects the health and contributes to the stability of each receiving household.
We will be hosting the Heritage Festival Kid’s Korner again this year on Saturday, September 21, from 12-4 pm, following the parade. There will be sand art, face painting, coloring pages, Build-a-Bear ($20), putt-putt golf, mini-manicures, and colored hair gel. Spread the word and then plan to bring your families and friends down for the huge Heritage Festival this year.
The Heritage Festival committee consists of over 20 individuals working to plan the most exciting event possible. The committee chair is one of our own as well! There will be great food, a parade, a pageant, vintage market, car show, the popular “Relationship Game”, and authentic German food, music and games, including a stein race! You won’t want to miss it!
Go to the tiffinfestival.com website and Facebook page at TiffinSenecaHeritageFestival for the most up to date information.
Are you getting ready for this year’s Regatta? What will your team try to race on the water? If you are not putting a “boat” (I use the term VERY loosely) in the water, then make plans to watch the funniest spectacle of the summer! Boats made from one sheet of plywood tend to behave hilariously when you add water. Bring your stamped registration form to Lowe’s and receive a discount for your supplies.
Registration starts at 11:00 am, Sunday, August 18, at the Bel-Mar Landing (also known as the Tiffin Yacht Club).
The “boats” and teams will be judged as follows:
AWARDS TO INCLUDE TROPHIES AND PRIZES
RACE WINNER
BEST SINKER
BEST TEAM THEME
BEST TECHNICAL DESIGN
There will be a live band, food, and beer available. The beneficiaries for this 3rd annual event include the NOAH Foundation along with the Summer Food Program for Kids.
If you haven’t considered sponsoring this event, you still have two (2) weeks to contribute. What a great way to give back to our community!! You can give your sponsorship funds and receive a tax-free donation receipt from Bill Nordholt or Jim Eckelberry.
Go to https://tiffinelksregatta.wordpress.com/ to register your team and see photos from the previous events.
Have you gathered your golfing buddies together for the annual Tiffin Elks Golf Tournament? Saturday, August 17, at 8:00 am, the golf course is TBD. Lunch follows immediately at the lodge with steaks!!
It’s BBQ ribs season and we will be serving up a heaping plate full at the lodge on Wednesday, July 17, at 6:00 pm. Take the night off and let us make dinner for your family and friends.
The Pinewood Derby is coming up quickly on Saturday, July 27, at 6:00 pm. Registration forms and derby car kits are available at the lodge for just $20. Thank you to the Cub Scouts for allowing us to use their state-of-the-art electronic derby track. Early check-in and inspection will be held the night before on Friday, July 26, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
Enjoy celebrating your Independence Day with your loved ones!!
Elks Motto: “The faults of our members we write upon the sand, their virtues upon the tablets of love and memory”
Thank you to Dave and Carla Thompson for the new outdoor bar chairs on the patio!
The Tiffin Elks Regatta Committee wants to thank all the volunteers that have helped bag food bags for the “Summer Food for Kids Program”. 225 food bags are assembled each week to help feed hungry kids in our community. Bagging usually takes place on Thursday evenings around 6 PM and takes about an hour. We will continue filling food bags for the next 7 weeks. Volunteers to help bag are welcome. Come see how the proceeds from the Regatta sponsors are helping those in need.
REMINDER: The Elks now have a nightly bar menu. Check it out here. This means anytime you want to go out you can have dinner at the Elks!
