GREETINGS FROM YOUR EXALTED RULER...

Hello to my Elks family!

Good/bad news to report. My Exalted Ruler (ER) successor and current Leading Knight, Katie Lang, has taken a job opportunity in Avon, Ohio. We will still see her at the club on some weekends, but she has decided to pass the torch to her next in line, Michele Upton, to be next ER.  I will miss Katie very much but I can already tell that Michele is up to the task! I will step down as ER in April and will take over as secretary and replace my lovely wife, Laura.

We are happy to announce that the Harold J. Fraley Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 128 have decided to make the Elks room on the 2nd floor of our lodge their home!  They will also hold regular meetings in the ballroom and most have become members to be able to enjoy our bar and activities.

Special thanks to the Cub Scout Troop leaders for helping clear the sidewalk!

Nominations for lodge officers will be held on Thursday, February 7 with the election following Thursday, February 21. All nominations will be read on the floor in February. Please see a Trustee or Officer if you have any questions. We hope you will attend one of these meetings.

Forever in Elkdom,
    Branden Johnson, ER

FROM THE SECRETARY...

The countdown to the new lodge year has begun!  Expect to see membership invoices in your mailbox in the coming month.  If you still haven’t paid for the last lodge year, you have a few more weeks until we drop you and you lose a membership year and have to pay a reinstatement fee to be an active member again.

This month we are so happy to welcome the Harold J. Fraley Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 128 to our membership and building.  During a special ceremony on January 13th, we initiated 16 FOP members to the Elks, and will soon initiate another 20 in the coming month or two.  We also initiated another two members during our regular meeting this month- Denny Lofay and Gene Thompson. Be sure to give any new faces a warm welcome to our lodge!

Respectfully Yours,
    Laura Johnson, Secretary

We are excited to announce the return of regularly scheduled dinners starting in February. The newly formed kitchen committee has diligently cleaned and organized the kitchen and is now ready to serve the membership. Their goal is to have at least two regularly scheduled meals per month in addition to build a burger. The regularly scheduled meals will also offer accommodations for dietary and vegetarian restrictions. They just ask that you make them aware beforehand so they can prepare. They are also open to menu suggestions for both regular and special meal options. Feel free to send those suggestions to srubigern@yahoo.com or just stop by during a meal.

Here are the meals planned for February:

  • Saturday, February 2nd will be Build-a-Burger from 5:30 pm to 8 pm.
  • Wednesday, February 13th will be Oven Roasted Chicken.
  • Friday, February 22nd will be Flat Iron Steak.

SUPER BOWL PARTY
On Sunday, February 3rd we are hosting a Super Bowl Party starting at 4:30 pm. There are $25 squares available at the bar (see flyer). We have plenty remaining so stop by and get your chance to win some $$. Purchase of a square is not required to attend the party. Bring a dish to share.

Ladies Night - Third Saturday of the Month

Saturday, February 16.

Drink specials for the ladies. Come down and bring your friends for a fun night at the lodge. Remember, we grow only if you ask someone to join. Friends are welcome to visit three times.

Congratulations to Rustic Flair and Brush for a successful event. The ladies who participated enjoyed the art and the lodge benefitted from the funds. Thank you to Kerry Jones for planning the event.
